Head Women's Soccer Coach

This is a part-time position that reports to the Director of Athletics. This position is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois and requires travel. The one-year, renewable position begins upon hire.



Job Summary

John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking a motivated and student-centered Head Women's Soccer Coach to lead and manage all aspects of the women's soccer program. This is an 11-month, part-time position responsible for all aspects of developing and leading a competitive NJCAA Division II soccer program that reflects JWCC's commitment to academic, student success, and athletic integrity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and manage all phases of the women's soccer program, including but not limited to recruiting, practice planning, player development, game strategy, and academic monitoring.
  • Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA, conference, and JWCC policies.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and ensure compliance with all NJCAA, MWAC conference, and JWCC rules and regulations.
  • Foster academic success, character development, and personal growth of student-athletes
  • Coordinate team travel, equipment inventory, game scheduling, and budget management.
  • Promote a culture of sportsmanship, inclusivity, and respect on and off the court.
  • Promote the women's soccer program and represent the College positively in the community by engaging with the community and college through camps, clinics, and outreach events.
  • Collaborate with the athletic department, admissions, and academic support staff to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate records and required reports
  • Support institutional and athletic department initiatives

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level; head coaching experience preferred.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and training methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to student-athlete academic success and personal development
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
  • Experience at the NJCAA or NCAA level preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification. (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience with scouting software, and performance analytics.


Working Conditions:

  • The Head Women's Soccer Coach will work in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, including office settings and gymnasiums.
  • The role involves frequent standing, walking, running, and other physical activities related to coaching and training athletes.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing to help maintain the soccer field, including setting up the field for gameday operations.
  • Evening and weekend hours are required to accommodate practices, games, and travel for competitions.
  • Travel is required for away games and recruiting activities, which may include overnight stays.
  • The position requires effective communication and interaction with student-athletes, coaching staff, and the public.


Work Schedule:

  • Part-time, 11- month position with a varying schedule.

SALARY:

  • Estimated yearly contract is $14,000.00 per year based on part-time hours.
