Instructor, Transportation Services

This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure track, bargaining unit position that reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education and is located at the JWCC Workforce Development Center in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins January 2023.


JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for teaching the classroom and hands-on portions of the Truck Driver Training program. Topics include basic truck operations, safe operating procedures, vehicles inspections, trip planning, simulator training, maneuvering on the driving range, behind-the-wheel training, and other non-driving activities. Some training could occur at JWCC regional centers and customer locations. Additional duties include course development, program evaluations, participation on advisory council, monitoring the conditions of the equipment, submission to FMCSA for student records, sustain and cultivate community outreach projects and assists with the recruitment of students. Instructional duties could include some weekend and evening hours.


QUALIFICATIONS

High School/GED, three (3) years of recent experience in the trucking industry (behind-the-wheel) with experience in a training capacity. Knowledge of the industry, practices, and regulations. Strong interpersonal skills and intermediate computer skills required. Community College teaching experience as well as experience in teaching through multiple methods is preferred.

Other required qualifications include:

  • Licensed for three (3) consecutive years with a valid Class A CDL and no restrictions. HAZMAT, Tanker, and Double/Triples Endorsement.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Be able to obtain DOT Medical Examiner Certificate and pass DOT drug screen.

SALARY

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
